Three ways to update cabinets

New, refaced or painted. Each one fits a different budget and a different kitchen.

New cabinets

Full replacement with shaker or flat-panel cabinets, laid out to fit how you actually use the kitchen.

Cabinet refacing

New doors and drawer fronts on your existing cabinet boxes, with matching veneer on the frames. A new look without the tear-out.

Cabinet painting

Cleaning, sanding, priming and painting existing cabinets, plus new hardware. The most budget-friendly way to change a kitchen.

Islands

New islands with storage and seating, often in a contrasting color like navy, black or wood.

Bathroom vanities

New vanities and medicine cabinets, sized to the room so doors and drawers clear.

Hardware and upgrades

Pulls and knobs, soft-close hinges, pull-out trash, drawer organizers and lighting under the uppers.

New, refaced or painted?

The right answer depends on the condition of your cabinet boxes and whether the layout works.

  1. Boxes are solid and the layout works

Painting or refacing gets you a new look for a fraction of the cost of new cabinets.

  2. Layout doesn't work

If you want to move the sink, add an island or change where things go, new cabinets are usually the way.

  3. Water damage or sagging

Damaged boxes should be replaced. Painting over them won't last.

  4. You're replacing counters anyway

That's the best time to decide, since new counters should go on cabinets you plan to keep for years.

Cabinet questions

Is it worth painting my cabinets instead of replacing them?

If the boxes are solid wood and in good shape, often yes. Painting done right, with proper cleaning, sanding and primer, holds up well. If the boxes are damaged or the layout doesn't work, it's not worth painting them.

What's the difference between refacing and painting?

Painting keeps your existing doors. Refacing replaces the doors and drawer fronts with new ones, so you can change the style, like going from raised-panel to shaker.

How long does a cabinet job take?

Painting and refacing go faster than new cabinets, which have to be ordered. You'll get a timeline for your kitchen in the written estimate.

Do you do bathroom vanities too?

Yes. Vanities are just smaller cabinets, and we replace, reface and paint them too.
