What we do in a kitchen remodel
A full gut isn't always the right answer. Sometimes new counters, lighting and floors do most of the work. We'll tell you which one your kitchen needs.
Cabinets
New shaker and flat-panel cabinets, or refacing and painting when the boxes are still solid. Soft-close hardware and pull-outs where they make sense.
Countertops
Quartz and quartzite, including waterfall edges on islands. Templated after the cabinets are set so everything fits tight.
Islands and peninsulas
New islands with storage and seating, or rebuilding an existing one so it fits the room and the rest of the kitchen.
Backsplash and tile
Subway, marble-look, herringbone and full-height slab backsplashes, finished cleanly at outlets and edges.
Lighting and electrical
Recessed lights, pendants over the island and under-cabinet lighting. Getting rid of the old fluorescent box alone changes a kitchen.
Flooring and open layouts
Wood-look tile and plank flooring run through the kitchen and living area, and walls opened up where the house allows it.

Before
After
Oak kitchen remodeled with taupe shaker cabinets, a new island and brass lighting
This kitchen had a good open layout and an island in the right spot. Everything else looked dated: honey oak cabinets, busy granite, amber pendants and white tile. The layout stayed the same and nearly every surface changed.

What a kitchen remodel costs depends on four things
No two kitchens price out the same. These are the decisions that move the number the most.
Cabinets: new, refaced or kept
Cabinets are usually the biggest line item. Keeping solid boxes and changing everything around them is the biggest way to save.
Countertop material and size
Square footage, edge details and a waterfall island all add up. Quartz is the most common choice for a reason.
Layout changes
Moving the sink, range or a wall means plumbing, gas or electrical work. Keeping the layout keeps cost down.
Finishes and lighting
Backsplash tile, hardware, pendants and recessed lights. Small choices that add up fast, in both directions.

How a kitchen remodel with us goes
Walkthrough and written estimate
We come to your home, measure, look at the plumbing and electrical, and talk through what you want. You get a written estimate with the scope spelled out, not a number pulled from the air.
Materials and schedule
We help you pick tile, cabinets, counters and fixtures that fit the budget, then order everything and set a start date. Nothing gets demoed until the materials are in hand.
Demo and build
Demo, rough plumbing and electrical, then tile, cabinets, counters and finish work. We protect the rest of your house and clean up every day.
Final walkthrough
We go through every detail with you before we call it done. If something isn't right, we fix it before we leave, not on a punch list three weeks later.
Kitchen remodeling questions
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Longer than a bathroom, mostly because cabinets and countertops have lead times. Countertops can't be measured for until the cabinets are installed. You'll get a timeline for your kitchen in the written estimate, and we order materials before demo so the kitchen isn't out of commission longer than it has to be.
Can I keep my cabinets and just change the counters and backsplash?
Often, yes. If the boxes are solid and the layout works, new counters, backsplash, hardware, lighting and paint or refacing can change the room for a lot less than new cabinets. We'll tell you honestly whether yours are worth keeping.
Can you take out a wall to open up the kitchen?
In many homes, yes. Whether a wall can come out, and what it takes, depends on what's inside it and whether it carries load. We check at the walkthrough and plan it properly before anything gets cut.
Quartz or granite?
Quartz is one of the most popular kitchen countertops. It's consistent in color, doesn't need sealing and holds up to everyday use. Natural stone like quartzite has more movement and character. We'll help you compare samples in person.
Can we still use the kitchen during the remodel?
Not much while it's torn out. Most families set up a temporary station with the fridge, microwave and coffee maker in another room. We'll help you plan that and keep the dusty part as short as possible.
